Independence National Historical Park
, right across the street from the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, the
Independence Visitor Center
(IVC) offers the perfect place to start any visit to the Philadelphia region.
As the official visitor center of Independence National Historical Park, the IVC serves as a one-stop shop for maps, brochures, tickets, tour information and the all-important restrooms. The IVC also contains a welcome film, a digital interactive wall and stunning views of Independence Mall from the Liberty Terrace.
Plus, the center sits just a stone’s throw from some of the most popular attractions in Philadelphia’s Historic District, including The African American Museum in Philadelphia, the National Constitution Center and the Museum of American Revolution.
The center’s friendly, knowledgeable and multilingual staff provide free comprehensive orientation to the culture, history, shopping and dining options available throughout the Greater Philadelphia region in an environment that’s welcoming and convenient.
The center’s staff helps millions of visitors start and plan their trips each year.
The Visitor Center is just a stone’s throw from some of Philly's most popular attractions.
The first stop for any and all Greater Philadelphia visitors should be the Independence Visitor Center, where dedicated experts can get anyone set up with what they need to enjoy an exploration of the City of Brotherly and Sisterly Love.
Visitors shouldn’t miss the Official Welcome Film of Philadelphia, as well as photo ops from the Liberty View Terrace (if available).
The IVC also received a $15 million upgrade in 2019. New features include:
a 42-foot, digital “Philly Welcome Wall” with content visitors can explore via touchscreen
dedicated desks for National Park Service Rangers and visitor services representatives, and
a public, wrap-around terrace on the second floor that occasionally hosts the open-air Terrace on Tap as well as private events.
Also updated in 2019: an expanded gift shop, dedicated to Philadelphia-themed merchandise, souvenirs, books and apparel.
Guests can fuel up at the Independence Cafe inside Independence Visitor Center, offering a selection of delicious grab-and-go items.
