Overview

Spectacular lights, warming winter treats and plenty of holiday cheer fill historic Franklin Square all winter long during the park’s all-ages Winter in Franklin Square programming, running from November 16, 2022 to February 26, 2023 .

The free Ben Franklin-inspired Electrical Spectacle Light Show sets the park aglow with 200,000 twinkling lights (the most ever!) and an energizing holiday soundtrack, including the new-for-2022 addition of Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas as You.

Visitors can play a few rounds of mini-golf on the Chilly Philly Mini Golf course and take a spin on the Parx Liberty Carousel.

Also on offer: comfort food, local beers and hot beverages, all available at Ben’s Sweets and Treats. (Plus, outdoor fire pits and an indoor heated tent!)

The seasonal outdoor attraction rounds out the ongoing festivities with themed events and special giveaways.

The Experience

The seasonal Franklin Square outdoor holiday event features special events, activities and more. What’s in store for visitors? Twinkling lights, magical mini-golf and plenty of holiday fun.

Electrical Spectacle Light Show

Winter in Franklin Square’s centerpiece attraction is the free Electrical Spectacle Light Show presented by PECO , illuminating the historic park with more than 200,000 lights that twinkle to a soundtrack of seasonal tunes nightly with shows every 30 minutes from 5 pm until closing.

Visitors can’t miss the enormous kite that serves as an ode to Benjamin Franklin’s famous kite-and-lightning experiment, hovering above the square’s centerpiece fountain. LED lights dance to music all along the kite, spreading a holiday glow throughout the park.

Mini-Golf, Carousel & Ben’s Sweets and Treats

Decked with lights and winter characters, the 18-hole Chilly Philly Mini-Golf course showcases Philly landmarks such as the Liberty Bell and the Chinatown Friendship Gate.

Guests can also take a spin on the nearby Parx Liberty Carousel and enjoy classic holiday tunes as they go round.
