Overview

A staple in Philadelphia since 1829, the annual Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) Philadelphia Flower Show — the nation’s longest-running horticultural event — typically draws tens of thousands of people to the city each year.

One of the city’s can’t-miss annual events, the show brings together hundreds of florists, landscapers and designers who create wondrously eye-catching displays that celebrate the majesty of horticulture.

This year, the spectacular display runs from March 4 to 12, 2023 , returning indoors to the Pennsylvania Convention Center for the first time since 2020.

The theme for 2023: “The Garden Electric,” showcasing vibrant designs from diverse creators and immersing visitors in 360-degree displays meant to mimic the feeling of being outdoors.

Beyond the garden displays, the Flower Show hosts a major juried competition in horticulture and floral arranging, as well as tons of gardening talks and demonstrations, special events, a sprawling market, live performances, and plentiful food and drink options.

2023 Highlights

In its return indoors to the Pennsylvania Convention Center, the 2023 PHS Philadelphia Flower Show features a brand-new layout, inviting guests to view and interact with gardens and flowers up close as they stroll through a winding promenade.

This year’s event also features some of the largest gardens in its history, with several creators designing immersive, 360-degree floral scapes that range in size from 2,200 to 2,900 square feet.

In addition, visitors can expect:

  • a mini-music festival, with daily performances from local artists curated by Philly brass band SNACKTIME
  • a sprawling marketplace with more than 100 vendors offering gardening tools and accessories, live plants, hand-crafted items, and
  • all-ages learning and crafting activities, including floral-arranging classes and flower crown-making.

Tours & Experiences

A leisurely stroll through the elaborate Flower Show is always a memorable experience.

  • Get crafty during hands-on elevated crafting classes led by horticultural artisans along Artisan Row (available every day).
  • Explore the show with leashed four-legged friends during Fido Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. (Friday, March 10, 2023).
