What to See

The 26.2-mile course winds through Philadelphia's historic attractions and scenic outdoor spaces.

While the Philadelphia Marathon race routes are all a little bit different each year, spectators can be sure to see the runners from the Benjamin Franklin Parkway between 18th Street and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and along Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive from Spring Garden Street to Fountain Green Drive.

Select cheering locations feature live music and most are located near popular attractions to enhance the spectating experience.

Don’t Miss

Warm up for the race at the Health and Fitness Expo at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Participants are required to stop by the Pennsylvania Convention Center prior to the Philadelphia Marathon to pick up their race packets.

The Health and Fitness Expo is free and open to the public. Philadelphia Marathon merchandise is available to purchase, along with other running apparel, shoes and accessories. Vendors also distribute product samples and offer tips on health and fitness. Out-of-towners can find information about popular Philadelphia attractions, restaurants and activities at the expo, too.

Getting There

Public transportation is the easiest way to get to the Philadelphia Marathon, as many streets on and near the route are closed to traffic throughout the weekend.

Many SEPTA train, trolley, subway and bus lines have stops near the start and finish lines, as well as peak spectator areas, and the marathon event page has information about route detours.

Visitors and locals can sign up for free text alerts from the City of Philadelphia to get weather, transit, event details and public safety updates ahead of and throughout marathon weekend.
