2022 Highlights

After a virtual 2021 event, the Philadelphia Folk Festival returns — both in-person and digitally — for its big 60th anniversary year.

For 2022, headline acts include singer-songwriter Michael Franti & Spearhead , The War and Treaty , and Punch Brothers & Watchhouse featuring Sarah Jarosz .

Further down the bill, attendees can look forward to sets from the renowned Atlanta hip-hop group Arrested Development , and folk legends like Tom Rush and Bettye LaVette .

And while the fest focuses on bringing in local talent, this year’s international acts are also not to be missed. Catherine Britt has won dozens of awards in her native Australia and is making a triumphant return to touring after beating breast cancer. The nine-piece South Korean ensemble ADG7 transforms classic Korean folk songs and stories using a combo of traditional instruments, modern K-pop and powerhouse vocals.

For 2022, the festival will be streamed worldwide so that fans from all over can access three stages live, as well as a compilation of all performances at the close of the festival.

The Experience

Each year, the fest features a jam-packed lineup, workshops, activities and events.

Philadelphia Folk Festival attendees have the option to camp at the farm for the entire weekend or buy passes for specific dates. Family camping passes are available and rates for kids vary by age.

Proceeds from the festival benefit The Philadelphia Folksong Society, the premier folk organization in the Greater Philadelphia region. The society is known nationally and internationally for producing this famous festival.
