Shop Philly to Support Philly This Holiday Season

We’re making it easy to buy local and buy from Black- and Brown-owned businesses so you can give gifts that support the place you love: Philadelphia...

This holiday season, we encourage you to give gifts to people you love from places you love — the local shops and businesses that make Philly Philly .

And to make that easy, we’ve created mini gift-guides of presents that — with your purchase — support the people powering Philly neighborhoods, independent businesses, and Black- and Brown-owned businesses, which have been hit the hardest during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, give gifts to your friends and family that support small businesses and spread the word by sharing your Philadelphia love with #OurTurnToTourist .

#OurTurnToTourist calls for those who live here and those who live close to here to show their support for local shops, restaurants, museums, attractions and hotels.

This holiday, take your turn to be a tourist and explore the distinctive owner-operated shops in-person and online that are a way of life for Philadelphians.

Get Your I Shopped Philly Sticker

Now, you can show your local love by proudly and publicly declaring that this holiday you chose to shop Philly and support Philadelphians.

Sending flavors from Philly is sure to get you a win. Di Bruno Bros. is a destination for super-easy-to-gift cheese and more with packaged-up offerings — including a hoagie kit. For a spirited gift (honey whiskey, maybe?) check with Manatawny Still Works , a Pottstown-based distillery with an East Passyunk tasting room that peddles whiskey and other spirits. Spice up the life of the budding chef in your life with an assortment of spices, sauces and spreads like blackberry-pinot noir from Chestnut Hill’s The Spice Rack . But send friends and family you really love to Italian pastry heaven with a box of cannoli from Termini Brothers , a South Philly staple.

Shop Black-Owned Businesses

Uncle Bobbie's Coffee and Books — Photo by Visit Philadelphia

There is an opportunity right now for all of us to make change and strengthen the community by supporting Black- and Brown-owned businesses, which are disproportionately at risk of closure during the COVID-19 pandemic. So get inspired to take positive action: When we shop for gifts locally at Black- and Brown-owned businesses, we’re positively impacting Philadelphia. You can pick out the perfect handcrafted mug for that holiday eggnog from YOWIE; keep feet warm and comfy with Robert Graham socks from Blue Sole Shoes; grab reading material for the winter from Uncle Bobbie’s Coffee and Books ; and mask up in style with an African Print reusable face mask from D’IYANU.

Timely Pieces of History

A Philadelphia gift guide would be lackluster without a nod to our city’s revolutionary history. First, you can revolutionize your loved one’s look with a vintage find from Common Ground or a Lagos’ Heart of Philadelphia pendant , featuring architectural elements from Independence Hall and other iconic buildings. For a gift that lasts a lifetime give a custom engraved brick in the Betsy Ross House courtyard or at Franklin Square. And for a gift that might only last a few weeks, ship a can, case or keg of Philadelphia Brewing Company’s Walt Whit — a spicy Belgian ale named for a spicy Philly thinker.
