Overview

Every year, Philadelphia transforms into a European wonderland during the annual Christmas Village , held at iconic LOVE Park and City Hall.

Running from Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve, the authentic open-air holiday market sells all sorts of gift-able items right in the heart of Center City.

Shoppers find more than 110 vendors set up in dozens of wooden cottages and ventilated tents, all offering a wide range of international holiday gifts, ornaments, jewelry, handmade toys, high-quality arts and crafts, wintry apparel, and edible and drinkable treats. Live music and events add to the festive atmosphere.

Located just across the street, the City Hall extension of Christmas Village (located next to the Winter at Dilworth Park programming ) features a double-decker carousel and German food court in the courtyard — plus the return of the popular Ferris wheel and kiddie train.

This year, Christmas in Philadelphia takes place from November 25 to December 24, 2022 .

The Experience

Christmas Village in Philadelphia is a shopper’s paradise.

Modeled after traditional European open-air Christmas markets and organized by a team from Germany, Christmas Village in Philadelphia rings the perimeter of LOVE Park and City Hall.

On offer: unique gifts, a German beer garden (with exclusive local craft beer), food (bratwurst, anyone?) and live entertainment, along with a full schedule of daily events, including visits from Santa.

In the courtyard at City Hall: a double-decker carousel shares the space with a German-style food court. Visitors can enjoy gooey raclette and Belgian fries, and ward off the winter chill with warm beverages in the beer garden.

Even better: Both the Ferris wheel (65 feet tall!) and kiddie train are back on the north side of City Hall.

More Things to Do for the Holidays in Philadelphia

Christmas Village is just steps away from several other things to do for the holidays in Center City Philadelphia.

While technically a separate set of holiday attractions, the Winter at Dilworth Park programming offers holiday fun right next to Christmas Village. Guests can stroll through the Wintergarden on the Greenfield Lawn; cruise around the Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink; relax with drinks and snacks in the Rothman Orthopedics Cabin; shop the Made in Philadelphia Holiday Market; and take in the free Deck the Hall Light Show.

Just one block east of City Hall, the Christmas Light Show and Dickens’ Village at Macy’s offers twinkling snowflakes, dancing snowmen and more during a free 100,000-light show narrated by Julie Andrews that’s become a Philadelphia institution since debuting in 1956.

Lastly, The Comcast Holiday Spectacular returns to the Comcast Center, located just a three-minute walk from LOVE Park. This 15-minute annual (and free!) super high-res LED holiday show combines performances from the Philadelphia Ballet with classic holiday songs and a magical sleigh ride over the city. Shows run daily at the top of every hour from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m..
